John L. Runkle, 87, of Palmyra passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at home.
Born October 25, 1928 in Grantville, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Lydia (Brezing) Runkle.
Retired International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local #143, he was a member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren and Shellsville V.F.W. Post 9639. He was a 1946 Milton Hershey School graduate and U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years Miriam A. (Gingrich) Runkle; sons Dennis J. Runkle, fiancé of Michelle Fortna of Lititz and Charles E., husband of Dianne Runkle of Palmyra; brothers Carl Runkle of Reading and William Runkle of Milford, Delaware; sister Lore Lilley of Grantville; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 14, 2015 at his church, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 9:30 AM. Interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
