Earl W. Hetrick, 87, of Palmyra passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center
Born October 28, 1928 in Dauphin County, he was a son of the late Charles and Mabel (Wagner) Hetrick. He was also preceded in death by siblings Leroy Hetrick, May Hein, Herman Hetrick, Mary Eshelman, Anne Shope, Elsie Gibble, and Marlin Hetrick.
Retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, he was a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra American Legion #72, and life member of the Shellsville V.F.W. Post 9639. He was a 1946 graduate of Hershey High School and U. S. Air Force veteran who served with the 51st Fighter Wing during the Korean War. A former Boy Scout Leader and Little League coach, he enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. His grandchildren were most important to him, as he was an avid Palmyra Cougar fan and member of the Cougar Club.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years Doris (Boger) Hetrick; children Gary L., husband of Janet Hetrick of Bandera, Texas, Linda S., wife of Mike Bare of Palmyra, and Douglas E. Hetrick of Lickdale; grandchildren Allison, Ryan, Matthew, Kathleen, Nicholas, Preston, Christy, and Danny; and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, November 27, 2015 at his church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 8:00 AM. Interment, with military honors, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
