Richard W. Sattazahn, 84, of Grantville, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 in his home.
Born October 15, 1931 in Palmyra, he was the son of the late William C. and Susan M. (Leininger) Sattazahn and was also preceded in death by his sister Pauline Flowers.
He retired as an inventory specialist from the former New Cumberland Army Depot and also retired from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 201st Civil Engineering Flight (Red Horse). A 1949 graduate of Palmyra High School and U. S. Air Force veteran, he was a member of Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grantville, Shellsville V.F.W. #9639, Palmyra American Legion #72, The Retiree Enlisted Association and the Hershey Italian Lodge.
He enjoyed playing softball and was an avid Phillies and Penn State fan.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years Rena J. (Kline) Sattazahn; daughters Brenda Frye and husband Larry of Hummelstown and Pamela Zerphy and husband Gregory of Elizabethtown; grandchildren Seth Frye and wife Megan, Sarah Zerphy and Christina Frye; and great grandchildren Jordan and Alexis Frye.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his church, 287 Shells Church Road, Grantville. Viewings 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday and 10:00 – 11 :00 AM Thursday both at the church. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
