Richard G. Bennett, Jr., 89, of Palmyra and formerly of Highspire, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 17, 2017 in the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Born March 2, 1928 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Richard G., Sr. and Helen (Reese) Bennett.
He retired as a self-employed painting contractor, was a graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School, and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Throughout his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, was very active in numerous churches and later in life enjoyed listening to Gospel programs.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years Margaret I. (Leidy) Bennett; daughter Cheryl L., wife of Brian Goss of Annville; son Mark R., husband of Kim Bennett of Millersville; grandchildren Christina, wife of Steve Kline, Bradley Goss, Josh Bennett and Tyler Bennett; great grandchildren Carter and Cora.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 27, 2017 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Joe Catani, former pastor of Bressler Bible Church, will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
