Yvonne A. “Bonny” Small
On August 8, 2024, Yvonne A. Small, 72, stepped from this earthly province into the arms of Jesus her Lord and Savior. Bonny, as she was most commonly known, was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Pearl J. (Heckard) Small.
She was born on October 8, 1951 in Lebanon, PA. For most of her young life she lived as an “Army brat” traveling with her parents to Europe, Virginia and Hawaii. Her Lebanon roots remained intact as her family would return home to Lebanon in between many of her father’s service-related transfers. In 1966, Bonny had the great experience of spending her teenage years in Ft. Shafter, HI – Every teenager’s dream of fun in the sun.
Upon returning to Lebanon, PA, she graduated from Cedar Crest High School, Class of 1969. She earned an Associates Degree in Social Work from Harrisburg Area Community College; and she continued to further her studies in this field at Millersville University before her health obstacles became something she could not overcome.
Though she wasn’t a formal member of any one church, she was a born again Christian who was always willing to share her faith, give of herself to anyone in need, giving all Glory to God.
Bonny’s love for the Lord could only be mirrored on earth by her great love for her family. She was a dedicated mother and loving sister who devoted her life to helping her family in the best way she could. Bonny’s great joy and pride was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The deep love she had for her family went with her into Heaven.
Surviving are her children Melissa A. Stanish of Lebanon, PA, Joshua A. Copenhaver, Sr. (Jessica) of New Philadelphia, PA and Christopher M. Copenhaver (Jennifer) of Eagleville, PA; sister Penny M. Seyfert (Glenn) of Lebanon; brother Jeffrey S. Small (Elaine) of Palmyra; aunt Wendy M. DePeau (William) of Lebanon; and while she had many cousins with whom she was fond of, she grew up with and was especially close to her cousin Sue R. Kunes ( Kenneth) of Lebanon, PA; nephews Jordan Small and Jesse Small; niece Noelle Small; grandchildren Erika, Laura, Nick, Holly, Emma, Dana, Brett, Joshua, Jr., McKayla, Kiley, Brayden, Leah, Hunter and Caleb; great grandchildren Amelia and Vyolette; and last but not least her cat Cissy.
A funeral service will be held at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra, PA on Monday, August 12, 2024. The family will receive guests from 12:30 – 1:30 PM with the service beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in Covenant Greenwood Cemetery, Lebanon, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon Humane Society, 150 North Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067.
