Wilmer E. Grubb, Jr., 96, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra passed away Friday, October 29, 2021.
Born February 24, 1925 in Linglestown, he was a son of the late Wilmer E., Sr. and Hattie M. (Gibble) Grubb and was also preceded in death by brother Kenneth Grubb and sister Jane Rhoads.
A member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren since 1939, he was involved in many commissions and served as secretary-treasurer of the adult Sunday School class for 40 years. Wilmer was a 1943 graduate of Hershey High School and met his wife in 1944 not knowing she also attended Palmyra Church of the Brethren. A World War II veteran, Wilmer was drafted into the U.S. Air Force, graduated Air Traffic Control School with high honors, served at Eglin Air Force Base Proving Ground and was discharged in 1947 as a Corporal. Taking the civil service test, he became a postal employee and was a Palmyra letter carrier until retirement in 1982. Following retirement, he worked at the former Speece’s grocery store for seven years. He and Dorothy moved to Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in 1988 where he did volunteer work and also worked as security guard for over 15 years.
Surviving are his wife of 75 years Dorothy (Eisenhower) Grubb; brothers Russell Grubb and Carl Grubb both of Palmyra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private service with interment in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
