William W. Wise

William “Bill” Wise passed away peacefully Wed., July 21, 2021, in Palmyra after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 85 years old.

Bill loved his family more than anything else and made being there for them his priority. He was known for saying “let us know if you need anything,” and enjoyed figuring out how to fix things no one else could. He was an avid hunter and golfer.

He was always cold and could be seen wearing a sweater even if it was 90 degrees outside. He had a huge smile and a belly laugh that came out when he cracked jokes.

Bill was very proud to serve in the Air Force’s 405th Bomb Squadron from 1954-57. He served two years and 11 months of that time in France. He was also an active Mason and a member of the Gravel Hill United Methodist Church.

Bill was the perfect example of someone who lived life for the people he loved, and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Grace Wise, as well as sister Betty Zimmerman; brother George “Sonny” Wise; and stepdaughter Colleen Miller. Bill is survived by his wife Ruth; sons Rodney (Michelle) and Scott (Angie); stepdaughter Robin (Greg); brothers Clifford “Tip” Wise and Larry Wise; sister Vicky Yingling; as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra.  Private interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra, PA 17078.
