William M. Mack, 81, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Born July 6, 1942 in Newton, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Lamont and Gertrude (Griffis) Mack and preceded in death by brother Richard Mack and nephew Matt Steinbacher.
He retired from the U. S. Army and later served with the Secret Service for several presidents. During the Vietnam War, Bill received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years Heather D. (Fraser) Mack; children Thierry Mack (Kathy), Karen Osborne (David) and Michelle Sisk (widow of Ray); granddaughter Kristine Sisk; siblings Jack Mack (Debbie), Wanita Ebell (Jerry), Patricia Pardue (widow of Wesley); nephew Ricky Steinbacher; sister-in law Joyce Mack; step children Jeff Farnell, Shelley O’Connell (Michael), Susan Dittmar (Matthew); step grandchildren Bryce Farnell, Tyler Farnell (Marcella), Brianna O’Connell, Grayson O’Connell (Rifka), Kelsey Dittmar and Eric Dittmar; beloved dog Maggie and cat Annie.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Buse Funeral Home, 9066 Jonestown Road, Grantville, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 South Lincoln Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
