Virginia Saufley Patrick, born Anna Virginia Saufley, age 98, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
Born January 27, 1922, she was the last surviving child of Grover Cleveland Saufley, and Anna Florence Smith of Hummelstown, PA. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Aungst Patrick, and her two brothers and four sisters.
She will be greatly missed by her eight children: Dennis (Linda) Patrick of Lititz, PA; Sharon (Larry) Graybill of Woodbury, PA; Timothy (Carol) Patrick of Myrtle Beach SC; and Gaylene (Douglas) Edmondson, Pamela (Robert) Myers, Jennifer (Lonnie) Crowell, Scott (Janine) Patrick, and Michelle (John) Hereshko all of Hummelstown, PA. She will also be missed by her 17 grand and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was a 1940 graduate of Hershey High School. After graduating high school, she briefly worked at Hershey Chocolate Company and Fort Indiantown Gap until her marriage when she became a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Hanoverdale Church where she had started the men’s and mixed choirs and sang in a trio. She was also a member and former president of the Farm Women’s Society of Pennsylvania, Dauphin County Group 2.
She was small, but mighty, taking care of her husband with MS for many years before his passing. Her family will remember her French twist hair style, her garden, vitamins, dark chocolate, her love of reading, and politics.
Viewing will be held at Hanoverdale Church on Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 11:00 am preceded by a viewing at 10 am, at the church. Interment will be in Hanoverdale Cemetery.
