Thelma M. Hain Obituary

Thelma M. Hain, 94, of Hershey passed away Monday, November 14, 2022.

 

Born December 4, 1927 on her maternal grandfather’s farm in North Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, she was a daughter of the late Bertha (Bomgardner) Detweiler Shroyer and John C. Detweiler.  Thelma was a 1945 graduate of Hershey High School and worked in the Hershey Factory during WWII.

 

She married Paul H. Hain of Hershey on March 20, 1948 and they had two children; a son, Dennis P. Hain, who lived outside Elizabethtown, PA with his wife, Jean, until his death on January 25, 2022 at the age of 73, and a daughter, Robin L. Hain, age 70, who lives with her husband John Rooks outside Norristown, PA.  Thelma was widowed on August 9, 1964.  Since 1968, she has been with her longtime companion, Robert C. (Bob) Lerch.  Bob was an indispensable help to Thelma in her last years, for which Thelma and the rest of her family are most grateful.

 

Surviving are her companion, Bob; daughter, Robin and son-in-law, John; daughter-in-law, Jean; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and her sister, Audrey Sardelis of Harrisburg.

 

In accordance with Thelma’s wishes, she will be cremated and her cremated remains will be interred beside her husband, Paul, at Tulpehocken Trinity UCC Cemetery in Millardsville, Lebanon County.  A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thelma’s memory to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, 1013 Mumma Road, Suite 203, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
