Shirley L. Yingst, 89, of North Londonderry Township passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Born January 6, 1935 in Hershey, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Carrie (Speece) Nornhold and widow since December 2021 of Norman V. Yingst, after almost 65 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by siblings Larry Nornhold and Joanne Bigler.
Retired from the Palmyra School District Cafeteria, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra and graduate of Palmyra Area High School. She enjoyed the Philadelphia Phillies, Penn Sate Football, knitting, crocheting, and sending cards to family and friends.
Surviving are her children Doreen Longenecker, Steve Yingst, and Timothy Yingst (Carol); grandchildren Scott Longenecker (Erin), Brett Yingst (Kasey), Holly Yingst, Lindsey Yingst (Barry), and Ryan Yingst (Maddison); great grandson Griffyn Longenecker; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 20, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, 520 East Birch Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be 9:30 AM Friday, May 31, 2024 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Capital Improvement Fund, 520 East Birch Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.
