Ruthann M. (Andring) Smith

Ruthann M. (Andring) Smith, 79, went to the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Born April 17, 1943 in Cassandra, PA, she was a daughter of the late John “Shang” and Bertha (Gruss) Andring and also preceded in death by siblings Michael Andring, Jean Pontious and Monica Adelman.

She was the widow of Henry “Hank” Smith to whom she was married for 46 years.  They had four children, Henry J., Christopher J. (Dyanne), estranged daughter Shonnea Moore, and Scelina Smith-Heller (Phillip) with whom she resided since the death of her husband; seven grandchildren, Colby Moore, Stephen Moore, Emily Doyle, Nicholas Smith, Vanessa Obenstine, Nathan Smith, and Samuel Smith; four great grandchildren whom she adored, Olivia and Aria Doyle and Xavier and Luna Smith and two unborn great grandchildren due in the fall.  Also surviving are her baby sister, Diana Burger (Rick) of Blue Knob; brother-in-law, Gerald “Pete” Smith (Donna); sister-in-law, Janet Andring; and several nieces and nephews.

Retired from the Pennsylvania State Tax Department, she was a member of Women of the Moose #553, Middletown and Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown.  Ruthann enjoyed weeding, gardening, and camping in her spare time and spending time with her beloved dog, Bertha Agnes “Bert.”

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at her church, 280 North Race Street, Middletown preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
