Ruth P. Bates

Ruth P. Bates, 81, formerly of North Chestnut Street, Palmyra passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Born October 14, 1944 in Palmyra, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Florence Margaretta (Benson) Moore and also preceded in death by brothers Richard L. Moore and James D. Moore.

Retired from the Palmyra Area School District cafeteria, Ruth was a 1962 graduate of Palmyra High School and former Cub Scout Leader.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years Robert L. Bates; children Michele R. Black (Richard), Robert L. Bates, Jr. (Karen), Michael D. Bates (Dawn), and Gregory S. Bates; grandchildren Victoria Lopez, Alexandria Humpert, Erica Black, Emily Black, Nichole Bates, Shane Bates, Kelly Black, Kortney Bates, Maggie Black, Rachel Bates, Reagan Bates, Damon Bates, Shamber Drapeau, and James Drapeau; and ten great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at the family’s home, 591 Hostetter Lane, Annville. Please drop in at your convenience.
