Russell Leroy Bomgardner Sr., 99, left this earth to his Heavenly Father January 20, 2026.
He was born Sept. 23, 1926 and served in the United States Navy as a Navy Seaman 1st Class aboard the U.S.S. Allagash Tanker ship that was commissioned August 21st 1945. He was honorably discharged July 14th 1946. A commitment he was proud of throughout his life.
Before serving he had worked on farms to help support his family, and after serving he purchased a farm with a GI loan. His parents moved on the farm and his younger siblings grew up there. He started plastering homes and then got a job at Cleaver-Brooks Boiler Plant in Lebanon, PA. He retired from Cleaver-Brooks and slowly adjusted to a better life of traveling.
Russell attended Lebanon Valley Bible Church, of South Annville Township, PA.
Russell is survived by his wife of 68 years Ora Bell (Ulrich) and his three children, Cynthia Bomgardner Moses (Richard), Russell Jr. (Tina), Patricia Trexler; seven grandsons, Jason, Seth (Ashley), Joel, Jerod (Cheyenne), Ethan, Zachary, Ryan, and two great-grandchildren to Seth and Ashley, Madison, and Landon.
Russell was the oldest son of the late William and Stella (Reese) Bomgardner and is survived by siblings Janice Boyer, Doris Bennetch, Lloyd (Colleen), Rita Price, and William. He was predeceased by one brother, eight sisters, eleven brothers in law, and one sister in law.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, PA. Private interment will be held, with military honors, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
