Roy D. Martz

Roy D. Martz, 89, formerly of Palmyra died Friday July 28, 2023 in Danville.  He was the loving husband of Dixie L. Martz, who passed away April 2017 after 58 years of marriage.

He was born in Carlisle on September 10, 1933, son of the late William and Emma (Tressler) Martz.  He was raised in Meyersdale and Berlin (Somerset County) and moved to York County, PA after serving two years in the U.S. Army.  He retired from Alcoa in Lebanon with 23 years of service and went on to work part-time at North Londonderry Township.  He was a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra and enjoyed hunting and spending time in Huntingdon County, especially with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his son, Steven R. Martz (and wife Melissa) of Danville; daughter Amy S. Kinney (and husband Mark) of Palmyra; grandchildren, Evan Martz, Owen Martz, and Natalie Wiest; sister, Shirley Wallick of Red Lion; plus several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sister, Jennie Wagman and brother, Wilson Martz.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 7, 2023 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation from 10:30 AM.  Interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
