Robert Q. Smoyer, Jr., 92, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra and formerly of Grantville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice.
The last surviving of his immediate family, he was born October 11, 1927 in Lehigh County to the late Robert Q., Sr. and Helen (Pope) Smoyer and also preceded in death by a grandson Michael Smoyer. He was the widower, after 66 years of marriage, of Barbara C. (Dreibelbis) Smoyer since November 2014.
A retired driver from the Teamsters Union, Bob was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Grantville, Shellsville V. F. W. #9639, and the Red Rose Horse and Pony Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his children Sharon Yingst of Hummelstown, David, husband of Janice Smoyer of Grantville and Tina, wife of Jay Hileman of Palmyra; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Private service followed by interment, with military honors, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A memorial gathering will be held at the Smoyer Homestead, 73 Appalachian Drive, Grantville starting at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 6, 2020.
