Robert C. Helt

Robert C. Helt, 97, of Palmyra passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.

Born December 5, 1920 in Reinerton, he was a son of the late James R. and Mary E. (Bressler) Helt.  He was also preceded in death by a son Robert C. Helt and siblings Marvin, Bill, Lloyd, Lettie, Ida, Jean, and Anna.

A retired Chief Metallurgist from Bethlehem Steel, he was a member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Franklin and Marshall College in three years.  He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years Irene E. (Reed) Helt; children Sandra Herr of New York and Jeffrey, husband of Yvonne Helt of Elizabethtown; daughter-in-law Pat Helt of Colorado; ten grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2018 at his church, 520 East Birch Street, Palmyra.  Interment, with military honors, will be held 9:30 AM Friday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
