Richard A. Schock Obituary

Richard A. Schock, 93, of East Hanover Township, Dauphin County passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at his home.

 

Born April 4, 1930 in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Stella E. (Bensinger) Schock and the widower of Lorraine E. (Derck) Schock, after 70 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by brothers Daniel Schock and Dale Schock.

 

Retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542, he had previously worked for Gannett Flemming and was a 1947 graduate of William Penn High School.  Richard was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Grantville, lifetime member of the NRA, avid hunter, and loved traveling and camping.

 

Surviving are children Sharon Brubaker (Vaughn), Cathy Goode (Joseph), Susan Nissley (Richard) and Allen Schock (Yvonne); brothers Floyd Schock (Violet), Kenneth Schock (Nancy) and Paul Schock (widower of Peggy); 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A viewing will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 at Buse Funeral Home, 9066 Jonestown Road, Grantville.  A private funeral with interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
