Ralph George Ackerman

Ralph George Ackerman, 74, of Bethel passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022.

Born December 2, 1947 in Sellersville, PA in Bucks County, he was a son of the late Ralph Stephen and Helen (Soltysiak) Ackerman of Trumbauersville.

Retired in June 2003 from Fredericksburg Elementary School, he served 34 years as an educator and was inducted into the Lebanon County Educational Honor Society.  He was a member of Myerstown Church of the Brethren and served as a deacon for over 30 years.  A member of the Lebanon County Beagle Club, he successfully raised several field trial champion beagles.  Ralph formerly ran Butter Creek Hatchery where he raised and bred tropical fish, specifically African Cichlids.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sporting clays, traveling, and horseback trail riding with his wife, especially at Big South Fork, TN, Otter Creek, NY and around their farm.  He was also a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees, Green Bay Packers, and UNC Tarheels basketball.  Ralph’s greatest joy was his family and being called “Grandpa!”

Surviving are his wife of almost 52 years Miriam E. (Geesaman) Ackerman; son Barry J., husband of Kelly Ackerman of Womelsdorf and their children Brayden and Emily; and brother Bob, husband of Mary Ackerman of Trumbauersville.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Myerstown Church of the Brethren at 51 West Stoever Avenue, Myerstown, PA  preceded by a visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 AM.  A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
