Phoebe L. Lutz, 98, of Palmyra passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025.
Born December 23, 1926 in Rutherford Heights, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Phoebe (Manbeck) Lex. The widow of Lawrence “Ben” Lutz since March 2007, Phoebe was also preceded in death by her ten siblings and a daughter Jeanette L. Yewdall in 2021.
Phoebe worked at the Hershey Chocolate Company for over 35 years before retiring. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, spending time in her garden with her dogs, and playing a spirited game of pinochle. Later in her life she found joy spending time with her great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed being out on the town and talking with fellow community members.
Surviving are her daughter Laraine L. Hinton of Lancaster; son-in-law Edward Yewdall of Palmyra; granddaughters Catherine, wife of Peter Dayton of St. Michael, Minnesota, and Cynthia, wife of Vlad Grigorescu of Champaign, Illinois; and great-grandchildren Amelia and Benjamin Dayton, Maddie and Alex Thackeray, and Silvia and Veronica Grigorescu. In addition she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Palm Lutheran Church, 11 West Cherry Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation from 9:30 AM. Interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
