Paul King Rider, Sr.

Paul King Rider, Sr., 101, of Elizabethtown and formerly of Hummelstown, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Born October 9, 1924, in Londonderry Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late William Metzger and Margaret B. (King) Rider.  Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Mildred V. (Carroll) Rider.  He was also preceded in death by infant daughter Kathy Jayne, siblings Ruth Evelyn Hershey, Elsie King Weaver, John William Rider and Ralph King Rider.

He attended Middletown High School, was a Kraft Cheeze production floor manager, warehouse supervisor for the former Town and Country Department Store and a custodian at Hershey Evangelical Free Church.

Paul was known for his joyful outlook on life and enjoyed singing hymns, especially during visits with his nieces and nephews while a resident at Masonic Village Healthcare Center.  He also enjoyed numbrix puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are his children Sandra R. Daniels (Richard), Paul K. Rider, Jr. (Patricia) and Ted A. Rider, Sr.; grandsons Ted A. Rider, Jr. and Daniel Jacob Rider (Heather); step grandsons Scott M. Stipe, Sr., D.V.M.  (Ralanda) and Christopher A. Stipe (Jessie); great grandson Benjamin James Rider; and 11 great step grandchildren. 

Private burial will be in Hummelstown Cemetery.
