Paul E. Miller Obituary

Paul E. Miller, 92, of West Hanover Township, Dauphin County went to meet Jesus on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

 

Born February 27, 1933, in Manheim, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Harrison G. and Edna L. (Shearer) Miller.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by brother Rufus Miller and sisters Rhoda Saylor, Helen Gebhart, Florence Royer, Kathryn Kuntz-Dietz and Dorothy Miller.

 

A farmer, Paul was a Holstein classifier for 17 years and after retirement a salesman for Lira Gold.  He was an active member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, where he served as president of the youth, a deacon, sang in the choir and as a soloist.  A member, youth director and state director of the PA Holstein Association, Paul was also a member of the PA Holstein Hall of Fame as well as the National Holstein Association.  He bred 60 “Excellent” Holsteins during his life, helped young farmers learn skills of breeding Holsteins and judged cow shows on the east coast of the United States and in South America.  Paul shared his tenor voice for 65 years, ten of those years were with his family’s group “The Singing Millers.”  During his life, he penned the words and music to “Make Mine Milk, Today” and published a book “Blest Beyond Measure.”

 

Surviving are his wife of 70 years Patricia R. (Rudy) Miller; children Debra L. Brubaker (Lowell), Jeffrey A. Miller (Cristy) and James Michael Miller (Linda); grandchildren Heather, Crystal, Blake, Candice, Emily, Jonathan, Heidi, Holly and Harrison; and great grandchildren Dylan, Faith, Bryce, Ciera, Noah, Carter, Ian, Ella, Claire, Asher, Simeon, Sutton, Tatum and Bria. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra followed by a time of visitation and fellowship.  Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra at the convenience of the family.
