Patricia A. Glorioso-Lovato, 82, of Annville passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Patricia was born in Washington, D.C., on March 25, 1943, to Frank and Susanna Rutz. She was raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia and graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School. Pat went on to pursue a career in nursing, earning her degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1963.
Alongside her work as a nurse, Patricia pursued a second career training Thoroughbred racehorses—an uncommon path for women at the time. She was one of only a handful of female trainers in what was then a male-dominated field. In 1969, she competed in the first Thoroughbred race held at Liberty Bell Park. By 1974, she was among the first trainers on the grounds of Keystone Race Track, now known as Parx Racing. Over the years, Pat became a mainstay on the Mid-Atlantic racing circuit, with a strong presence at Keystone, Atlantic City Race Course, Garden State Park, Delaware Park, and Penn National. Whether serving as a nurse on the front side or working as a trainer on the back side, she found fulfillment in two of her greatest passions.
Patricia is survived by her husband and best friend, Frank. She is also survived by her two daughters, Adina Hering and her husband John, and Anita Huss and her husband Jeffrey, along with their children Brody, Cole, and Bryce. She is further survived by her brother, Joseph Rutz, and his wife Marlene.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday May 20, 2025 at Buse Funeral Home, 9066 Jonestown Road, Grantville preceded by visitation from 12:00 pm.
