Nancy Lou Shaffer, 77, of East Hanover Township, Dauphin County passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at home.
Born May 3, 1944 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Irene M. (Hetrick) Gipe and also preceded in death by a sister Carla J. Menchey.
Retired from the payroll department of Central Dauphin School District, she enjoyed and was known for her cooking, baking and charity work. Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, where she was in the Honor Society and Future Business Leaders and served on the yearbook staff. A member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, she was head of the prayer chain, sang in the choir, and was a member of the United Methodist Women and Congregational Care and Outreach. Nancy was the “Silver Spoon” of the Appalachian Sports Car Club.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years Lawrence E. “Larry” Shaffer; children Glen L. Shaffer, Jennifer R., wife of Scott W. Kilander, and Cindy A. Shaffer; sisters Mildred V. Merrell and Linda D. Heefner; grandchildren Shelby C. Bauer, Morgan A. Bauer, and Chassity Kilander; and great grandson Sebastian.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 23, 2021 at her church, 165 Firehouse Road, Grantville preceded by a visitation from 11:00 AM.
