Melvin J. Lubold, 99, of East Hanover Township, Dauphin County and formerly of Lawnton passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Born March 9, 1923 in Valley View, he was the last surviving child of the late James and Bessie (Schwalm) Lubold and widower of Genevieve Lubold and Loretta Lubold. He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter Mary Jane Tomaso.
Retired from United States Post Office, he was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Mel was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Grantville, American Legion #998 Lawnton, and Shellsville VFW #9639.
Surviving are his step children Reid T., II, husband of Judith A. Wilson of Newport, William L., husband of Tracie L. Wilson of Harrisburg, Karin, wife of Marlin J. McCormick of Harrisburg and Deannea, wife of Kenneth A. Platt, Jr. of Newport; 13 step grandchildren; 22 step great grandchildren; and 5 step great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 165 Firehouse Road, Grantville preceded by a visitation from 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
