Marlin H. Hitz, 94, on Monday, February 13, 2023, while surrounded by his family, peacefully entered Heaven from his home.
Born July 6, 1928 in Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Landis and Lena (Houser) and widower of Dolores K. (Miller) Hitz, since November 25, 2022, after 73 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a son Guy M. Hitz, and siblings Earl Hitz, Russ Hitz, Mark Hitz, and Lorraine Zuck.
A long-time member of Faith Baptist Church, Lebanon, where he served as a deacon, usher, and scripture reader for many years, he and his wife were involved in missions and visited many of the missionaries they supported. A proud farmer in Lebanon County, he received his American Farmer degree in 1949. Marlin shared his knowledge and love for farming by serving in various positions with numerous agriculture organizations including being a past President of the Young Farmer’s Group. Along with his wife and family, Marlin started Dol-Mar Dairy in 1975. After 50 years as a dedicated farmer, Marlin and Dolores traveled for over 25 years as a member of SOWERs and were involved in volunteer work all over the United States.
Surviving are his children Marlene H. Michaels (Jim) of West Grove, Boyd M. Hitz (Judy) of Annville, and Scott M. Hitz (Barb) of Middletown; siblings Lois Horst and Evy Brubaker; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Marlin and Dolores will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church, 220 South 22nd Street, Lebanon preceded by a visitation from 10:15 a.m. Private interment in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
