Marjorie K. Schaffer, 83, of Hummelstown passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 surrounded by her family in the house that her husband designed and built.
Born August 17, 1942 in Chester, she was a daughter of the late Gordon Leigh and Margaret Lucille (Storm) Bitterman and widow of Kenneth M. Schaffer since April 2024, after 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by sister Nancy M. Hannon.
Retiring in 2002 as a Legislative Assistant for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Marj was a member of the Derry Township Historical Society and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. Previously, she was a stay-at-home mother to her young children, active in their activities, the PTA and church, and much camping.
Surviving are her children Debra Linn Hefflefinger (Alan) of Mt. Joy, Mark Joseph Schaffer (Dawn) of Palmyra, and Nicole Lee Ogden (Steve) of Hummelstown; sister Carolyn A. Richards of East Stroudsburg; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, February 27, 2026 at her church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey followed by interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
