Marjorie A. (Bretz) Hohney

Marjorie A. Hohney, 85, of Grantville, PA and formerly of Harrisburg, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

Born on July 19, 1938 in Steelton, PA, she was the eldest daughter of John and Esther (Kruger) Bretz.  In addition to her parents, Marjorie is preceded in death by her brother John Thomas Bretz and sister Greta Decker.

Marjorie was a 1956 graduate of John Harris High School.  In 1988, she married her loving husband Michael E. Hohney who was by her side until her passing.  She worked at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in the Data Entry Department for 17 years, and later in life as a cashier at the former A.C. Moore in Harrisburg where working with customers was the highlight of her days.

In addition to her husband, Marjorie is survived by one son, David E. Bretz and his partner Judy as well as 3 grandchildren, David K. Bretz (Melissa), Valen R. Hudson, and Mercedes A. Bretz. She also has five great grandchildren, Chloe, Keaton and Dempsi Bretz and Emmalyn and Elijah Hudson; six step children that she loved and cherished as her own, Edith K. Green, Michael J. Hohney (Jessica), Charles E. Hohney, Christopher R. Hohney (Julie), Victoria J. Miller (Clyde) and Jordan M. Hohney.  Marjorie and Michael shared seven grandchildren on his side, Janae Wright, Summer Berry, Joseph-Micheal Hohney, Rylee and Rowan Hohney, Jameson Miller, and Roman Hohney.  She is also survived by a sister Linda Bretz of Hershey as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Buse Funeral Home, 9066 Jonestown Road, Grantville preceded by a viewing from 12:00 Noon.  Interment in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
