Lucy Anna (Eckenroth) Hanson

Lucy Anna Hanson, 85, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in her home at Londonderry Village, where she resided with Ivan, her husband of 60 years.

Born April 12, 1940, in Myerstown, PA, Lucy was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Mary Grace (Shepherd) Eckenroth. She was preceded in death by her grandsons, Jesse Stump and Leon Stump, and by her siblings Joseph Eckenroth, Jack Eckenroth, Charlotte Clair, Betsy Beretta, and Harriet Gillen.

Lucy is survived by her husband, John Ivan Hanson, whom she married in Rome, Italy; her son Peter Hanson and his wife Barbara; her daughter Ellen Hanson; granddaughter Karina Anderson; and great-grandsons Lane Arnold and Landon Pulford. She is also survived by her siblings Grace Gichner, Richard Eckenroth (Susan), Paula Eckenroth, Marian Breive (John), Patricia Eckenroth, Trudy Gass (Frank), and Jennie Eckenroth.

Lucy was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School, class of 1958. She met Ivan through a square dance club, an early sign of the joy and energy she brought to every part of her life. Lucy served as a La Leche League leader, supporting countless mothers and families. She developed a gazillion family and travel photos during her years working at Fotomat. The painted ceramics that overtook the basement of the family farmhouse, Tupperware and Longaberger Basket parties and gardening reflected her passion for things that brought joy to others. She later retired from Fulton Bank.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Londonderry Village, Palmyra, PA. Inurnment will take place at Mastersonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
