Larene has gone to be with her son David who was killed in an auto accident on July 1st, 1962 at 2 years of age. She will also be with her mother Maybelle who died of breast cancer at age 49 and her father Clarence Werner who died of natural causes at age 84.
Larene was born on November 30, 1934 and died on August 15, 2019 at the age of 84 years.
Larene is survived by her husband, Richard G. Stone Ph.D who was her caretaker for several years before her death. They were happily married for 64 years. She was also lovingly cared for by the nurses and Shahbazim of the Royer Greenhouse of Londonderry Village and by the staff of Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster, PA. Larene suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and this developed into vascular dementia, the cause of her death.
Larene is survived by her sister Mildred A. Werner who resides at Columbia Cottage in Palmyra, PA three children, Seth Stone of York, PA, Luci Stone married to Chris Wise of Harrisburg, PA and Laurie Peterson married to Mark Peterson of Lake Mary, FL. Larene also has three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
After cremation by the Buse Funeral Home, her ashes will be spread over her son David's grave at Grandview Cemetery in Annville, PA.
Larene went to one room country schools in Lebanon County, graduated from Derry Township Junior/Senior High School in 1952 and attended Lebanon Valley College.
Larene worked as an administrative assistant at the Hershey Company and is a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer at Londonderry Village and served as the Queen of the Red Hats Society at Londonderry Village. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed riding a tandem bike with her husband on the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail.
A celebration of Larene's life will be held on Monday, August 26th, 2019 at Stoneback Pavilion of Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Road in Palmyra. Family and friends can stop by anytime between 4pm and 7pm.
