Kenneth Robert “Soup” Neiswender, 85, of Palmyra passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024.
Born January 16, 1939 in Palmyra, he was a son of the late Roy L. and Margaret L. (Lesher) Neiswender and also preceded in death by siblings Donald Neiswender, Phyllis Diebler, Charles Neiswender, and James Neiswender.
Self-employed as Ken Neiswender, Excavation, he worked with many contractors in the Palmyra area putting in septic systems, driveways and digging foundations. He also owned several apartment units and Convenient Self Storage. Soup was a 1957 Palmyra Palm, lettering in football. Ken was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren and an active member of the bowling and softball teams. He was a Shriner and a member of Prince Edwin-Spring Creek Lodge 486 F. & A.M.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years Heidi L. (Lindquist) Neiswender; children Judy Miller (Brian) of Louisville, KY; Kenneth Roy Neiswender (Connie) of Boiling Springs; and Doreen “Dori” Gunn (Gary) of Franklin, TN; brother Fred Neiswender (Donna) of Clearfield; sister Beverly Bell (George) of Palmyra; mother-in-law Vera Lindquist of Green Valley, AZ; grandchildren Cortney Hamilton (Oliver), Paige Johnson (Alex), Kate Gabler (Willie), Michael Neiswender, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Neiswender, and Christopher Gunn (Alaina); and great grandchildren Henry, Oliver, Hazel, and Silas Gabler.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 2, 2024 at his church, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation from 2:00 PM. Private interment in Bindnagle Cemetery, Palmyra.
