Kenneth Byron Light, III, 44, (known as Byron or Ron to his family) of West New York, NJ, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024. He fought a year-long battle with gastro-esophageal junction cancer and spent his final days at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.
Byron graduated from Palmyra High School, attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, and earned a bachelor's degree in geology from Bucknell University. After working in various roles in environmental remediation and compliance, he became the Assistant Director of Environmental Health and Safety at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, in 2022. He was a proud member of the Stevens community and could often be seen in a Stevens Ducks shirt.
He read voraciously, enjoyed playing video games, and spent hours playing trucks, dinosaurs, and magnet tiles with his five-year-old son. He often read to his son, something that he particularly wanted his son to remember. He also loved cooking for family and friends.
Byron is survived by his son, Grant Light Keller; his wife, Laura Keller; his parents, K. Byron and Deborah A. Light; his brother, Andrew Light; and his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Jane Light. In addition, he will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 27, 2024 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. There will be a lunch to follow.
