Joy F. McLure Obituary

Joy F. (Moyer) McLure, 80, of Hummelstown passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at home.

Born February 6, 1940 in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Madeline (Ewing) Moyer. She was a 1958 graduate of Hummelstown High School and received her Bachelor’s of Education from West Chester University in 1962.

Joy retired from teaching at Londonderry Elementary School in 2002. She was a member of Derry Presbyterian Church, Hershey, where she sang in the choir for many years. Joy was an avid reader and enjoyed attending the symphony and theater. She worked at the Hershey Theatre in several different capacities and assisted with the evaluation process for the Apollo Awards. She also volunteered at the John Harris Mansion.

Surviving are her daughter Jill F. McLure of Hummelstown; son Michael D. McLure (Lori Etchberger) of Hummelstown; granddaughter Amanda J. Etchberger of Arlington, VA; brothers Dale A. Moyer (Joan) of Brooksville, Florida, John E. Moyer (Linda) of Fruitvale, Idaho, and Lee A. Moyer (Bonnie) of State College; many nieces and nephews and close family friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA 17033.
