Joseph M. Royer, 86, of Palmyra passed away Friday, September 19, 2025.
Born July 23, 1939 in Iona, he was the son of the late Joseph K. and Alice (Bucher) Royer. Joe was the widower, after 64 years of marriage, of Ruth M. (Lindsey) Royer since January 12, 2024 and also preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Royer, Grace Krall, Mildred Gingrich, and Joann Leverknight.
Joe was a graduate of Palmyra High School and Lancaster Bible College. He worked as a data processor at First Federal Savings and Loan and later retired after 10 years of service with the Overseas Missionary Fellowship in Lancaster. A member and visitation pastor at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church in Palmyra, he also served as an ombudsman through the PA Office of Long-Term Care.
Surviving are his children Kenneth M. Royer (Terri), Tammy R. Templin (Donald) and Keith M. Royer (Tina); eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 29, 2025 at his church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra preceded by a visitation from 10:00 AM. Private interment will be in Midway Cemetery, Lebanon.
