John "Jack" Sisko, Sr. Obituary

John “Jack” Edward Sisko, Sr., formerly of Cornwall, PA was born December 2, 1941 in Pottsville, PA, and passed on April 7, 2023.

Many would know him as the fast-talking short-order cook who was always ready with a joke and a smile. He met his wife, Sharon, while working at Furman’s Diner, and they eventually owned the Quentin Haus in Quentin, and later founded the Wedgwood Diner on Cumberland Street in Lebanon, PA. After 35 years in the restaurant business, he worked for Yellow Freight in Lancaster County until he retired to spend more time with his family.

The mischievous gleam in Jack’s eye and his cheerful optimism were contagious, and he always went out of his way to bring joy to all around him (including the birds near his house that he fed prodigiously). He was exceptionally fond of sharing an endless supply of candy and treats with the children in his life and was a firm believer of eating dessert first. Especially if that dessert was a large bowl piled high with a mix of ice creams covered in chocolate sauce. On any given night, one might find him gathered with his family, cooking dinner, watching Walker Texas Ranger, or teaching the kids how to play five-hundred rum. Jack was devoted to his wife and often took her to local concerts, where they danced to the late hours and laughed and held each other close. His mission in life was to keep her safe and happy. His good humor made every problem lighter and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jack leaves behind his wife of 60 years Sharon E. (Lineaweaver) Sisko; sons Dr. John E. Sisko, Jr. (Caron) of Ripon, Wisconsin and Jason J. Sisko (Angela) of Grantville; brothers Michael Sisko (Jean) of Port Carbon and Daniel Sisko (Bonnie) of Lavelle; grandchildren Alexander, Adriana, Brandon (Emma), Ashley, Jason, Jesse (Xena), and Jaden; and great granddaughters Melody, Everly, and Zoey.

He was preceded in death by his father Michael L. Sisko, mother Hannah I. (Pennypacker) Sisko Marcowski, and brother Robert Sisko.
