Jean A. Stauffer Obituary

Jean A. Stauffer, 98, formerly of Palmyra passed away Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.

 

Born October 16, 1925, in Palmyra, she was daughter of the late Carl H. and Esther (Keeney) Brandt and was the widow of David W. “Bud” Stauffer since September 2004. Jean was preceded in death by her daughter Ann L. Stauffer, and sisters Gloria Krall, Mary Lee Landis and Joan Souder.

 

Jean graduated from Palmyra High School in 1943. During World War II, she served the war effort by working in a factory in Queens, NY while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. She later moved back to Palmyra and worked as an employee at Lebanon Valley Offset Printing in Annville. Jean was a member of Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra, and volunteered her time with her husband at the Hershey Medical Center. She was active in the community as a member of the Junior Woman’s Club of Palmyra where she helped lead the fundraising efforts to build Palmyra’s first public pool and library.

 

She is survived by her son, Michael L. Stauffer and his wife Grace C. Stauffer, Grandson Matthew Stauffer and his wife Sofia Zharkova and Grandson Daniel Stauffer and his wife Ruth Stauffer, Great Grand-Daughter Nicole Rutledge and Great-Grandsons Miles and Henry Stauffer.

 

Private burial will be in Nafzger Cemetery, Palmyra.
