Obituary

Jane Marie (Artz) Johnson, 93, formerly of Carlisle, PA passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at Homeland Center, Harrisburg, PA.
 
Born July 21, 1928 in Ringtown, PA, she was the proud daughter of the late Harry and Vada (Bitting) Artz.  In December 2014 she was widowed from her husband and love of 65 years, Harry L. Johnson, and also preceded in death by her cherished eldest child and only son, Harry E. Johnson.
 
Jane was a retired secretary and office manager with a keen eye for business accounting details and office organization.  She was a supportive member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Burlington County, NJ and a life member of the V.F.W.  Jane had a competitive spirit and enjoyed challenging herself in bowling, cards, bike riding, crossword puzzles and Sudoku.  Her passions included traveling with her husband in their RV after retirement, meeting new people, creating memories with friends, playing the piano and singing.  During her time living in NJ, Jane sang with the Jersey Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines and the choir of Harriman United Methodist Church in nearby Bristol, PA, where she also served as one of their organists for 36 years.  She continued playing the organ and singing with her church choir and the Oak Run Choraliers while living in Ocala, FL from 1990-2006. Her most treasured times were spent with her husband, children and grandchildren sharing lots of love, endless laughter, and delicious home cooking.
 
Surviving are her daughters: Cathleen Johnson of Trenton, NJ, Jane Palmer of Carlisle, PA, Sheri (Ben) Murphy of Lincoln University, PA; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Mount Laurel, NJ and her grandchildren: Lauren Cooney, Erika and Harry Johnson, and Steven and Mason Murphy.
