James Robert Cowles

James Robert Cowles, 70, of Palmyra passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Born August 6, 1952 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late James Horace and Daisy Mae (Welsh) Cowles and also preceded in death by his brother Donald Raymond Cowles.

He was an over the road truck driver for Crowe Transportation and U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran serving three tours.  Jim was proud to be on the Apollo 16 recovery team in April 1972.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years Judy A. (Heisey) Cowles; son Christopher J. Cowles (Moraima); daughter Trisha L. Martinez (Angelo “Pete”); sister Rebecca Smith (Duane); grandchildren Isaiah Martinez, Kayla Martinez, Jeremy O’Casio, Efrain Colon, Chance Martinez and Serenity Martinez; adopted son Gabriel “Gus” Martinez; and canine companion Abbie.

A visitation will be held 6:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM.
