James R. Gerber, Jr., 92, of Palmyra passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Born February 13, 1931 in Lebanon County, he was a son of the late James R., Sr. and Blanche (King) Gerber and widower of Doris A. (Lau) Gerber since 2010. He was also preceded in death by his son James E. Gerber, Sr.
A retired carpenter from Carpenters Local 287, he attended First Evangelical Congregational Church, Palmyra and was a U.S. Navy veteran. James was an avid bowler and Penn State football fan and loved to travel with his family, especially to Myrtle Beach. A devoted husband, beloved father, and caring grandfather, family was the center of his life.
Surviving are his daughters Nancie E., wife of Barth Keck of Palmyra and Cynthia E., wife of Michael Giffin of Hummelstown; daughter-in-law Donna M. Gerber of Palmyra; brother George, husband of Winnie Gerber of Palmyra; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra will be at the convenience of the family.
