James J. Anderson, 76, of Arizona and formerly of Palmyra, PA passed away November 12, 2025.
Born in Wilmington, DE on December 14, 1948, he was a son of the late to Rosemary “Billie” Crowley and Arnold Lawrence Anderson.
James had a playful, sports-oriented childhood in Palmyra with his older brother Larry, who passed away July of 2009. In High School James advanced his athletic skills and was captain of the basketball team and played football as well as excelling in academics.
He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1966 and went on to college at Gettysburg College, earning a degree in Psychology in 1970.
He worked for many years at the Harrisburg State Hospital before moving to Arizona in the late 1970's. Jim was employed at the Arizona State Hospital as a recreational therapist until his retirement in 2010.
His passion was music, dancing, and he was crowned the "Hustle King" by his dance partner friends. In later years he also enjoyed karaoke and gathering with his coffee social friends.
He is survived by his sister-in law Mary Ann Anderson; nephew Nicholas; and many longtime friends who knew him as JimBob, Slammy or Jimmy.
A brief memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
