Ira D. "Bud" Espenshade, Sr.

Ira D. “Bud” Espenshade, Sr., 88, of Conewago Township, Dauphin County was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus Thursday, May 16, 2024.
 
Born May 23, 1935 in Deodate, he was a son of the late Wesley N. and Anna S. (Miller) Espenshade and widower of Jacqueline P. (Keller) Espenshade since January 2023, after 67 years of marriage.  He was also preceded in death by a son Ira Dale Espenshade, Jr. and siblings Eleanor Myers, Dorothy Rutt, Wesley Richard Espenshade, Helene Zeager, Arlene Reider, Anna Forry, Geraldine Shelly, Pauline Kraybill, Fern Messick, Jay Espenshade, and Edwin Espenshade.
 
Co-Owner of the former Espenshade Meats, he enjoyed farming, growing and selling produce, hunting for many years, and spending time at his E-town Buckhorns Camp.  Bud attended Spring Creek Church and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
 
Surviving are his children Debra Myers (Kent) of Hummelstown, Roxie Stine (Tim) of Elizabethtown, and Jason Espenshade (Jaynie) of Zionsville; sister Miriam Judy of Arkansas; grandchildren Melissa Holland (widow of Rodney), Patrick Boylan, Jennifer Crabtree (Brian), Elizabeth Bushman (Tony), Justin Stine (Katie), Jenna Dows (Ben), Jacey Espenshade, Russell Espenshade, and Hunter Espenshade; and fifteen great grandchildren.
 
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra with interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.  Viewings 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
