Helen M. Lutz, 86, of Palmyra passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 with her daughters by her side.
Born July 29, 1935 in Myerstown, she grew up there until moving to Palmyra in 1955. She was a daughter of the late Isaac J. and Ethel J. (Schaeffer) Gass, widow of Wayne T. Lutz, Jr. since April 1994, and also preceded in death by her sister Betty Jane Wentling, brother George Gass, and son-in-law Donald Mader.
Helen retired from Kraft Foods, Palmyra after 24 years before working at the old 19 East Hershey Company Candy Store. A longtime member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Palmyra, she served as the church organist for 57 years. She also shared her musical talents as choir director and children’s choir director. She said her biggest blessing was working with the church choir.
Surviving are her daughters Judith Mader of Harrisburg, Jacqueline Peiffer (Michael) of Harrisburg, Karen White of Palmyra, and Janine Wimmer (Gerald) of Palmyra; grandchildren Jennifer Peiffer, Kimberly Mader (companion Dave), Daniel Mader (Ashley), Danielle White, Allison White, and Adam Wimmer (companion Katelyn); and great grandchildren Ethan, Beau, and Jaxon.
Private interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
