Helen A. Usztics Obituary

Helen A. Usztics, 94, of Dauphin passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her daughter Susan's home.

Born February 13, 1926 in Camp Hill, she was a daughter of the late Edward Donbaugh and Anna (Wallace) Reeseman.  She was married for 68 years to John G. Usztics until his death in 2016.  She was also preceded in death by their son, John A. Usztics and sisters, Betty Wisehaupt and Doris Warfield.

Helen was a consummate nurse her entire life.  She inspired her granddaughter and others to become nurses.  She retired as a Nurse Educator, having taught many LPN classes at the Harrisburg-Steelton-Highspire Program of Practical Nursing.  Following her retirement, she worked for UCP evaluating home healthcare workers.  She continued in this position until she was 85.  Throughout her life she volunteered as a nurse at church camps and with mission organizations.  She was a 1945 graduate of Lemoyne High School, 1947 graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, and was sponsored by the Army Nurse Corp.  Helen worshipped with the Home Church of Deer Run, Hummelstown, where she was loved and respected.

Helen loved the Lord and was a faithful servant.  She and John spent their life together helping anyone who was put in their path.  After finding John’s home village in Ukraine, they worked to make the lives there better by supplying clothing, medicines, vitamins and school supplies.  They adopted a Ukrainian orphanage for disabled children, not wanting any child to be neglected.  This support continues today in their honor.  In retirement, they spent their days visiting the sick and widowed.  Helen would always take something special to brighten long days.  She had an uncanny ability to make anyone feel better.

Surviving are daughter, Susan H. (John K.) Youtz; daughter in law Donna Usztics; brother/son, Barry (Genie and daughter Jennifer Henseler) Donbaugh; sisters, Eileen Velter and Jeanne (Richard) Durborow; grandchildren, Ivan (Jessie) Usztics, Alexander (Eileen) Usztics, Chelsea (Josiah) Haken, and Cameron (Jessica) Youtz; and great grandchildren, Eden Haken, Ahron Haken, Everly Usztics, Emmi Usztics, and Remington Usztics.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.  Private interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
