Gerald W. Espenshade, 97, of Cornwall Manor passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
Born on June 30, 1923, in Hummelstown, he was the son of the late William and Marion (Allwein) Espenshade and also predeceased by his daughter Marsha Garner. He is survived by his wife, Shirley after 72 years of marriage; daughter, Karen (wife of Joseph Hoffman); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Jerry was a graduate of Swatara High School class of 1941 and a World War II Army veteran serving as a sergeant in the South Pacific and Japan. Jerry retired as an engineer for the Bell Telephone Company with 35 years of service. He loved to dabble in the stock market and travel, especially cruising. As a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Hershey, he served on the Church council as well as the finance committee. He also volunteered on “The People Mover” in Hershey.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with burial in Hershey Cemetery.
