George L. "Johnny" Shearer

George L. “Johnny” Shearer, 87, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Born September 12, 1935, in Hershey, he was a son of the late George L. and Helen J. (Smith) Shearer and also preceded in death by a brother James Shearer.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years Mary Ann (Wenger) Shearer; sons Todd M. Shearer (George Romanella) and Lin A. Shearer (Kathleen Cooney); grandson Jack Shearer; and brothers Robert Shearer (Carole) and Richard Shearer.

A retired systems analyst from EUR Data Center, he was a member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Johnny was an avid hockey fan and played, coached, and refereed youth hockey. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and with his sons’ families around the US and abroad.

Private interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
