George Edward Stover, 83, of Manheim, PA, died peacefully at home on Monday, December 2, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was known for his deep love for his children and grandchildren, and for his huge, bright smile that lit up the room for everyone, including the beloved doctors and nurses at his cancer center and friends and crew for his daily coffee at the local McDonald’s. He attended Encounter Church of Palmyra.
George was born in Annville, PA on February 7, 1941 to Earl H. and Mary I. (Reigle) Stover. He worked at Hershey Foods Corporation for over 34 years. George also drove school buses for AP Bucks & Sons, Inc. for the Palmyra Area School District for 17 years.
George had many hobbies, including following NASCAR Racing, attending the Daytona 500 and local sprint car races, morning coffee with friends, taking care of his beautiful yard, riding motorcycle, fixing cars, attending auctions, and spending time in upstate PA with his extended family. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband/dad/grandparent and will miss George every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lester, Warren, and Donald; sisters Grace Sanders and Ruth Zern; and son-in-law Herb Fogleman.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Rachel L. (Wine) Stover; sister Eva Bupp; children Judy Fogleman, Scott Miller (Tammy), Cris Christ (Ed), Todd Miller, Micki Miller, and Melissa Ries (Chris); grandchildren Casey Crawford (Brice), Kyle Miller (Michaela), Anna Hoy, Zachary Fogleman (Tierney Bechtel), Tyler Miller, Ian Fogleman (Erin Schupper), Kaila and Katie Miller, Emma Ries, Luc Ries, Alysa Mease (Derrick), Lance Fogleman, and Elizabeth Fogleman; and great grandchildren Piper Crawford and Ronin Miller; along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held 1:00 - 3:00 PM Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Encounter Church, 220 Campbelltown Road, Palmyra. A private graveside service was held for family at Gingrich Mennonite Cemetery
