Fern A. Baker, 87, of Palmyra passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
Born November 29, 1936 in Shellsville, she was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Olive M. (Cassel) Peiffer and also preceded in death by daughter Sharon L. Baker and sister Geraldine K. Cassel.
Retired as a supervisor from the former Francis for Fords, she was a 1954 graduate of Hershey High School and earned a business degree from Thompson Business College. Fern was a member of Palm Lutheran Church, where she served on the Social Ministry Committee. An avid camper for 50 plus years, she was involved in many activities and served as a Director of District 2 Coachman Owners Association. Fern was a former Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, 4-H Club Leader, and formerly an active member and youth director at Shells Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years Robert L. Baker; children Karen L. Kepley (Robert), Robert L. Baker, Jr. (Cathy) and Douglas L. Baker (Marcy); grandchildren Alicia Kepley, Courtney Blevins (Travis), Leeann Baker (Josiah McClary), Rebecca Baker (Jordan Hoke), Jacklyn Baker, Victoria Baker, Logan Baker and Benjamin Baker; and great grandchildren Hank Blevins, Emmylou Blevins, Rubye Blevins, Keith Blevins, Treslynn Kepley, Briggston Holden, and Weston Hoke.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at her church, 11 West Cherry Street, Palmyra with interment in Grantville Cemetery. Viewings will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Tuesday at the church.
