Elta N. Seaman Obituary

Elta Nolt Seaman, 85, of central Pennsylvania, entered her eternal home on June 30, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Her life was a radiant reflection of her faith in Jesus Christ, and she now rests in the promise of John 14:2—“In my Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”

Born October 11, 1939, in Olney, Maryland, Elta was the daughter of Benjamin and Vivian Nolt and the younger sister of Marcia and the older sister of Ben. Her childhood was filled with joy—playing and sledding on Owl Hill and dressing up her dolls. Her father served in WWII as a SeaBee, while her mother ran a boarding house for soldiers’ families. She often recalled the “old Hershey” with fondness: skating at Milton Hershey, sledding Milton Hershey Hill, riding the bus to baton lessons, and cheering for her high school sweetheart, Fred, on the football field.

Elta graduated from Hershey High School in 1957 and Thompson College Business School. She married Fred J. Seaman in 1959, and together they raised three children in a farmhouse filled with music, prayer, and celebration. She was known for her beautiful gardens, family dinners, and the warmth she brought to every holiday. Her home was a sanctuary of faith and family, where every meal began with hands held and heads bowed.

She was an owner of Seaman’s Markets with Fred and their sons, and Fred’s brother Melvin (deceased) from 1974 to 2008. But her greatest joy was in being a wife, mother, and “Mimi.” She wrote daily, prayed fervently, and found inspiration in nature, music, and scripture. Her mission trip to Ukraine, where she taught English and shared God’s love with orphans, was one of her most cherished experiences.

Elta is survived by her children Rebecca, David (with wife Kelly), and Andrew (with wife Lori); grandchildren Payton, Sadie, Macy, Greyson, and Benjamin; her brother Benjamin Jr. and his family; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred and her sister Marcia.

A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Ono United Methodist Church, 9 Main Street, Ono, visitation at 10am with the service to start at 11am, followed by a luncheon.
