Ellis C. Shenk, 80, of Hummelstown passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020.
Born July 22, 1940 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Raymond S. and Violette I. (Cassel) Shenk and was also preceded in death by a brother Cassel Shenk.
Ellis was a 1958 graduate of Hershey High School and then attended Philadelphia College of the Bible. He was called into the Air Force in Texas at the time of the Vietnam war. While in Texas, he attended St. Mary’s College, where he obtained his law degree and also attended Dallas Seminary. He married and became the father of six children and later adopted a seventh child.
After returning to the local area, he worked in Human Relations in Harrisburg settling discrimination cases and winning an award for his work. Following retirement, Ellis spent a lot of his time gardening and the beautiful flowers he grew were appreciated by all who passed by the house. He attended Hershey Free Church, loved his Heavenly Father and reached out to help people whenever he could. Ellis was known and loved by many.
Surviving are his wife of 8 years Dawn E. Sandy; children Robert Shenk, John Shenk, Justin Shenk, Al Joe Shenk, Jordan Shenk, Misty Wilson and Ryan Shenk; brother Melvin P. Shenk; and seven grandchildren.
Private interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra will be held at the convenience of the family.
