Dorothy K. Bicksler, 97, of Palmyra passed away Monday, February 8, 2021.
Born August 31, 1923 in Palmyra, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Jennie (Moyer) Keiffer and widow of James Reidel since 1945 and Clement B. Bicksler since April 2009.
A member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Palmyra, Dottie was a strong, resilient woman who overcame many sorrows and never let her life defeat her. When Dottie talked about her life, she referred to it in chapters. It started with her childhood, with her widowed mother, who to make ends meet, went to work at The Bethany Orphanage in Womelsdorf, PA. Next, was her time spent there, as an orphan, after her mother died. Then leaving there to live with an older sister in Hershey and marrying her high school sweetheart. Having her first child, only to be widowed one year later and alone, a single mother. Next, meeting her second husband and raising her family in Palmyra. She always put others first and will always be remembered and loved.
Surviving are her children Robert J. Reidel (Delia), Barry N. Bicksler (Sharyn), Bradley B. Bicksler (Janice) and Brynn L. McCurdy (Frank); grandchildren Ronald Reidel, Richard Reidel, Barclay Bicksler, Derek Miller, Damon Miller, Erica Francis, Laura Burke, Sarah Rabuck, Emily Musser, Mark McCurdy and Katie McCurdy; 20 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 11, 2021 in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
